Despite references made that Rose and Aminidab Hanzer christened their son, Aminidab, at St. George's Chapel c. 1690, I could find no evidence that the church existed prior to 1719. It is possible that there was an earlier congregation that met elsewhere.

The church was built in 1719 in Indian River Hundred about 9 miles from Lewes. While many baptismal records have been preserved, there are few if any marriage or funeral records. There is an extensive grave yard surrounding the church but most of the markers are from a later era.
