Based on the 1850 Sussex Co. DE census records, Elisha Wright was born c.1828 in DE. At this time he was living on the farm of Robert and Mary Johnson with his brother Philip Wright .

Based on information supplied by Sterling Street, Elisha's great great grandson, Philip and Elisha were the sons of Warren and Maria Wright .

He was first married to Lydia Johnson who may have been the same Lydia found in the 1850 census records, daughter of Robert and Mary Johnson with whom Elisha and his brother were living in 1850. He then married Mary Jane Norwood Jackson (widow of Isreal Jackson).

Mary Jane and Elisha had the following children:
